Diana Sullivan: Imagine having a life long dream of wanting to become a professional photographer with only one thing holding you back... you're legally blind! Well, one Seattle man hasn't let that stop him from pursuing his dream. Northwest Cable News's Angela King introduces us to Robert Wright in tonight's "Uniquely Northwest".

Angela King: It's a formula for The Perfect Photographer; a quick camera, a steady hand, and an eye for the exquisite! These are all qualities that Robert Wright can rightly call his own. But there is one thing that sets this photographer apart from the rest. He's legally blind.

Robert Wright: The only thing that I contribute is the will to go beyond what other people say is possible... and I have l learned that by doing so, I've been able to accomplish anything that my heart desires.

Angela King: Robert has lived with his disability all of his life. A car accident destroyed most of his vision when he was only sixteen days old, yet despite the impairment Robert picked up his first camera in 1974.

Robert Wright: Even thought ten percent of my pictures were in focus, it was enough to keep the interest alive.

Angela King: And with the help of an automatic focus camera, now ninety percent of Robert's photos come out... Picture Perfect! From Jamie Fox, to John Lovits; Weird Al Yankovic to Gary Payton, Robert has photographed dozens of celebrities with such precision an care for detail; qualities that many fully sighted photographers overlook.

Robert Wright: People assume that vision impairment, the legally blind mean that they can not do anything and that's not the case! When I go out and I shoot photographs of television stars, movie stars, musicians, politicians... all of my work serves as examples that in fact "They Can"!

Angela King: And while he's currently unemployed, Robert is doing all he can to become a professional photographer. He is a man with many talents, but most of all, he's a legally blind photographer... with a vision.

Angela King: Angela King, Northwest Cable News, Seattle.

Diana Sullivan: Now one of Robert's dreams is to photograph the cast of Babylon 5, and he is hoping to get his chance at a special convention in California on October 16.
