(September 16, 1994) "Legally Blind Photographer Shoots Up Disneyland" Reporter: Unknown Reporter: Robert Wright is legally blind. With glasses he has 20/400 vision. But despite this, he loves to take pictures. Wright, who lives in Seattle, visited Disneyland to take snapshots for a poster promoting photography for the visually impaired. Robert Wright: People with visual handicaps don't need to be as disabling to society... that they may have a totally unique perspective in life, that the society might find of great value. Reporter: So, how does Wright take such clear photos? Well, he sees well enough to frame up the shot, then he depends on a high-tech auto focus device to sharpen the picture. Robert Wright: I get in roughly in the picture; determine how much of the character I want, and then I focus it through the programmable feature of this particular camera and I take more than one photograph, because I can not absolutely be certain that every picture's going to be focused where I want it to be focused. Reporter: But he says, it usually works out and Wright hopes other people who are visually impaired come across his pictures and decide they can handle a camera too. |
